Ralph J. Luongo

Managing Shareholder

Since October 2003, Ralph Luongo has served as the firm’s Managing Shareholder. In that capacity, he leads the firm’s Management Committee and is a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Mr. Luongo is also an active trial attorney, leading a team of attorneys and other professionals who litigate complex commercial, insurance coverage and general liability matters.

Mr. Luongo’s trial experience includes many major jury and non-jury trials taken to verdict, as well as more than 100 matters tried before panels of arbitrators. Mr. Luongo has litigated complex multi-party insurance coverage and bad-faith disputes venued in jurisdictions throughout the country, and has tried cases in state and federal courts involving allegations of liability arising from products, premises (including design defects), motor vehicles, aviation, restaurant operations (including dram shop liability), and municipal services and facilities. Mr. Luongo’s recent trials include a multi-million dollar non-jury insurance coverage matter in which a favorable judgment was entered by a judge of the New Jersey Superior Court, followed by a federal court jury trial in New York City that resulted in the pre-verdict dismissal of the firm’s insurance company client.

Prior to joining the private sector, Mr. Luongo served as an Assistant City Solicitor in the Litigation Division - Appellate Unit of the City of Philadelphia Law Department. In that capacity Mr. Luongo handled post-trial motions and appeals, including numerous oral arguments before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, many involving governmental immunity and civil rights issues.

Mr. Luongo has published articles on the topic of commercial property owners' liability for, and defenses to, claims of failure to provide adequate security. As a former Treasurer and Board Member of a community association, Mr. Luongo has counseled on civic association duties and potential liabilities, and litigated matters involving municipal zoning.
